Inauguration of the renovation of the Château de Pélicier in Manosque: Géosel committed to the protection of bats
On Tuesday, May 30, 2023, Géosel participated in the inauguration of the renovation work on the Château de Pélicier in Manosque, in the presence of Benoit Loussier, director of ONF 04. A building dating from the end of the 18th century located on a Natura 2000 site run by the Luberon Regional Natural Park, the castle is home to a colony of bats protected by the European “Habitat Fauna Flora” directive: the Lesser Horseshoe Bats.
Thanks to funding from the town hall of Manosque, Géosel and Géométhane, two facades of the castle were renovated and two sundials restored. Géosel was particularly involved in financing the renovation of the facades, thus contributing to the long-term preservation of this essential habitat.
This work extends the efforts initiated in 2012-2013, thanks to which the colony of Lesser Horseshoe Bats at Château de Pélicier saw its population increase from 40 to 130 individuals between the end of the work and 2021.
